When & How Much to Water

July 7, 2017 Matt Boyce
 Turf Water

Lawn irrigation is a major factor in providing healthy turf. Turf performs better when it is irrigated correctly, but this doesn’t mean more is better. Too much water in the soil profile does not allow roots to maintain the necessary oxygen to sustain growth. Would you be real comfortable if your head was underwater for 30 minutes to an hour? The plant feels the same pain when you over water.

Running sprinklers early in the morning is a great way to provide the moisture needed while minimizing disease pressure. If you receive a measurable rainfall, turn the sprinklers off for a day or two. You’ll conserve water and promote healthier growing conditions.

As always, if you need help keeping your turf green, reach out to us at info@greenswardsolutions.com.
