You won’t see a Greensward mower driving through your neighborhood, but that doesn’t mean we don’t have a few tips for properly mowing your lawn.
- Select the right height. Many homeowners mow the grass lower than needed. Greensward's suggested height of cut for fescue is three to four inches.
- Sharpen your tools. Ensure your mower blades are sharp and properly adjusted so as not to “tear” the grass blades. Tearing can create a shredded look which causes more open points for disease and pests to enter. Think of using an un-sharpened blade as a doctor performing surgery with a steak knife instead of a scalpel. Blades can be sharpened at home after safe removal or at a local lawnmower repair facility.
- Know when to take a break. Extreme weather conditions can be hard on a lawn. Knowing when to take a day or week off can pay dividends throughout the year. Times of increased temperature, humidity, high traffic, rain (environmental influences outside of a normal week) are great times to give your lawn a break from the mower.
